Hot tapping
The hot tapping technique is used to connect a branch line to an active pipeline or tank under pressure. This method uses a drilling machine that includes a power-operated boring bar, which actuates the cutting tool, and a valve to be installed temporarily or permanently, as required by the application, which allows the drilling machine to be removed after drilling. The machine also includes a welded or bolted T-joint to maintain the system pressure and form a branched outlet pipe. The hot tapping technique is used in different applications, from drilling small holes in emergencies to scheduled major modifications of a working unit.
Pipeline Plugging
Pipeline plugging is an effective method of isolating pressurized pipes and tanks in order to make repairs and engineering changes. Plugging begins with making a connection for hot tapping with a connecting piece, which includes a discharge line outlet, to allow the removal of the temporary valve upon work completion. Pipeline plugging equipment incorporates a plugging head to be inserted into piping. Once the head has been inserted into pipe, it should be turned and fixed in a position as needed Isolating the piping pressure.
Our equipment is designed and tested to withstand required pressures, temperatures and severe service conditions, up to 100 bar and 400 degrees centigrade.
Using our equipment, one can perform work in systems containing different products, such as hydrocarbons, natural gas, water, vapor, and heavy oil.
Highly skilled engineers with years of experience can apply different procedures to ensure the most effective customer-tailored economic solution:
- Tapping up to 84 inches.
- Plugging to 48 inches.
- Onshore and offshore, above and under sea.
- Completion without production process interruption.
